EAMES CHAIR

My newspaper de Volkskrant started a contest this week. I am completely oblivious to the reasons for having this contest, but I do participate because..... first price is the all time classic Eames Lounge Chair designed in 1956 by Charles and Ray Eames. So I complete the online competition form every day, answering design questions...

MURAKAMI

'South of the Border, West of the Sun' is the first book I read in months, perhaps in over a year. For a long time I couldn't concentrate: story lines wouldn't stick, characters seemed distant, settings unfamiliar, metaphores confusing, literary language difficult. But Murakami's beautiful love story about desillusion and solitude brought the magic of reading back into my life. Tonight I'll pick up another one.



BTW: there is nothing south of the border, nor anything west of the sun...
