MURAKAMI

'South of the Border, West of the Sun' is the first book I read in months, perhaps in over a year. For a long time I couldn't concentrate: story lines wouldn't stick, characters seemed distant, settings unfamiliar, metaphores confusing, literary language difficult. But Murakami's beautiful love story about desillusion and solitude brought the magic of reading back into my life. Tonight I'll pick up another one.



BTW: there is nothing south of the border, nor anything west of the sun...
