Zo. There you have it!  Een man.

And so it began….

THE JANSEN STRATEGY.2

SANCTUARY LAKE STREET

In December I spent little less than two weeks in Australia, staying the majority of my days at Sanctuary Lake Street where I got a bit of my sanity back.

ANTIOXIDANTS

My Nigella inspired antioxidant fruit salad with red currants, pomegranate and blue grapes. I am not a big fruit eater, but this is delicious!

I AM GETTING INTO THIS...

Don't worry: the boyish Asian with bad presentation skills is not Mr. Kabat-Zinn. Just FF, but listen to what JKZ says about rowing at 1.40 minutes.

WINTER LANDSCAPE

This is my own watery winter landscape. I took this picture at the Geertebrug on the Oude Gracht on December 31st around noon, only a few hours after I got back from my trip to Australia. The difference almost couldn't be bigger.

ART-O-THEQUE

Got my art library membership today. My first piece is a traditional oil-on-canvas winter landscape by Utrecht artist Albert Temming. It sits nicely on my dresser for the coming weeks, until April comes and I'm ready for a spring landscape...

X-MAS TREE

My X-mas tree 2010: a 9V battery with a click-on plastic tree with led lights. Ella Fitzgerald, the Dresdner Kreuzkirche choir and Sarah Maclachlan singing in the background.

FOOTBALL UNDER COVER

Yesterday I watched the documentary Football undercover, a wonderful report on how "an amateur female soccer team from Berlin goes on a nerve-wracking journey trying to carry out the first female soccer match in the history of Iran." (www.imdb.com). My favourite scenes are those during the soccer match outside of the stadium. Only women are allowed in and so officials, husbands, brothers and journalists, all men, gather outside of the stadium. They can hear the(ir) women cheering, but they don't know what's going on. Meanwhile, inside the stadium, Teheran women are thoroughly enjoying a match of football and let go of all restrictions they normally have to bear in live. They sing, they dance, they cheer and some of them let go of their head scarves. It draws an unusual picture of Iranian women doing what they want, leaving men powerless for 2x45 minutes...
